Details

Women business owners face a special set of challenges: how to meet their business objectives without sacrificing their personal well-being and relationships. It can be difficult to minimize the trade-offs and as soon as an individual does find a system that keeps her business and life organized, a new set of challenges will swoop in and create new upheavals. Just another day in the life of a typical woman business owner!

This seminar provides space to quiet your mind, learn, and integrate powerful skills and knowledge. It's easy to sit around and complain, but how does a person actually solve the day-to-day problems? There are no secrets revealed in the seminar, no proprietary systems promoted. Rather, you will learn easy-to-apply evidence-based strategies--meaning that the interventions are based on sound, scientific research findings--that will give you new momentum, empower you, and move you towards your business objectives.

What will I get out of this?

  • Tools and devoted time to clarify your business intentions
  • Simple strategies to escape the mind wedgie
  • Methods to get out of a rut
  • Creative ways to remove obstacles
  • Ideas to successfully move among the three roles of a business owner

What topics will be covered?

  • Western and Eastern belief systems around success
  • The antidote to fear
  • Healthy boundaries
  • Ten dimensions of business and assessing your success in each area
  • The conditions that are linked to fulfillment
  • The six stages of change and nine processes to make it happen
  • Techniques to not flip out when you embrace uncertainty!

Evidence-based coaching model

Julie utilizes an evidence-based coaching model. She spent fourteen years on the faculty at Marquette University as a research librarian and brings deep experience in translating research findings into useful, everyday strategies. In addition, she brings practical knowledge of the human experience from integrating into the cultures of Norway, Iceland, and Australia during her years abroad. Combining science and street smarts, Julie offers a brand of coaching that will not disappoint.

The Encyclopedia of Positive Psychology explains evidence-based coaching in the following way:

Evidence-based coaching has the potential to delineate between ... "pop-psychology” ... and coaching psychology which explicitly draws on relevant theory and research. Adapted from its use in the medical context, the use of the term evidence-based in relation to coaching ... refers to the intelligent and conscientious use of best current knowledge in making decisions about how to deliver coaching to coaching clients, and in designing ... coach training programs. "Best current knowledge" is up-to-date, valid and conceptually coherent knowledge from relevant areas such as, but not confined to, behavioral science, economics and business, and philosophy.

The use of such knowledge requires that practitioners receive specialized tertiary-level training from suitably qualified teachers in understanding, interpreting and evaluating scientific research, and applying such knowledge to design and implement coaching interventions. Informed-practitioners ... are expected to be educated and critically-thinking consumers of research.
